Things to Click

Around the blogosophere let me note two things:

The new "Lutheran Airlines" (hilarious) and HT: Scot McKnight.

Seth Odom interviews Jo Fitzmyer who is not impressed with the NPP.

  1. I was expecting a long-winded response by a formidable NT scholar. But you gotta love the short and sweet responses sometimes.

  2. Wow. I found the interview analogous to the Romans commentary in more ways than I anticipated...

  3. I thought the Fitzmyer interview was surprisingly thin. I don't just mean that it was short, but that the responses were not very helpful.

I enjoyed his commentary, especially when it came to lexical study, but I thought it lacked theological imagination. Also, the outright rejection of all things NPP is silly to me. Fitzmyer ought to at least engage the great historical-critical insights of Sanders and Dunn. (I know, I know, I'm a chihuahua barking at a great dane)

In what ways, J.R. Daniel Kirk, did you find the interview analogous to the commentary?

Hey guys. If you are interested in more NPP stuff, check out my latest interview with Mark Mattison, the creator of "The Paul Page".
