Tormenting Gk Texts Students

In my Greek Texts III class today, we finished off the semester (and their undergraduate Greek) by getting them to translate one final Greek text, not from a UBS4 or NA27, but from an actual manuscript! Here's what they had to translate from Codex Vaticanus:

What is the book, chapter, and verse for this passage?

What word is missing here compared to the UBS4 version?

I bet this was a good exercise for them.

Matthew 11 vs 9 and following. I don't have my UBS4 here, so I can't answer that one.

Whoops - I meant 8.

I hope you gave them the whole width of the column!

Peter, you get the full image if you do a "view image" or if you read it in a feed reader.

I guessed Matthew too...
I can't believe 3 years doing Greek paid off.

I had to save it and look at it in Photoshop. Anyway, there is also what looks to me like an error in NA27 and UBS4 in this passage in connection with this manuscript.

Mike, do you think studying modern greek language for a year in greece would be significant for a prospective NT student?

Thanks,
